What kinds of used fire apparatus do you sell?

We carry structural engines and pumpers in commercial and custom cab configurations, tankers and water tenders for rural water supply, brush trucks and quick attacks for wildland and off-road work, heavy and light rescue trucks, aerial ladders and quints, and command and chief vehicles. Inventory turns over quickly; browse the lot to see what is in stock today.

How do you check a used truck before it is sold?

We look at a used rig the way your own engineer and mechanic would: the chassis, the drivetrain, the body and compartments, the electrical and warning systems, and — on pumpers and tankers — the pump, plumbing, and tank. We tell you what we find, good and bad, so there are no surprises when the truck arrives. Ask us for current photos or video of any area you want to see before you commit.

How much does a used fire truck cost?

Price depends on the class, age, mileage, pump and tank size, and overall condition. A brush truck or quick attack on a commercial chassis usually costs far less than a late-model custom pumper or an aerial. Where a listing shows a price, that is our asking price plus delivery; where it says “On Request,” call us and we will give you a straight number. Many departments find that a used rig lets them replace an aging truck years earlier than a new build would.

Do you deliver nationwide?

Yes. We deliver used fire apparatus nationwide. We will quote delivery with the truck so you know the full cost up front, and we can walk your crew through the rig when it arrives.

Can you find a truck you do not have in stock?

Often, yes. If our inventory does not show what your department needs, tell us your requirements — pump size, tank size, chassis, cab seating, budget, and timeline — and we will source to spec. That is how many of our customers find their next truck. Request a quote or call 712-948-3320.

Selling or trading in an apparatus?

If your department is replacing a rig, we would like to hear about the one you are retiring. Send us the year, make, model, and a few photos, and we will let you know how we can help.

More than a dealer

American Fire Equipment Co. also designs and manufactures the Torpedo Nozzle in-house, so the people selling you a truck are firefighting equipment makers too. We know what a crew asks of its apparatus on a bad night, and we sell used fire trucks the same way we build our products: honestly, and built to be relied on.
